Lanzarote Lanzarote is pure geology, undersea and lunar landscapes, clear waters, thirsty land, an oasis of palm trees, in harmonious coexistence of man and nature. No doubt it´s a land of contrasts. It is the easternmost of the Canary Islands, is identified by the large number of volcanoes that extend it due to the volcanic activity of the early eighteenth century. Lanzarote is situated at a distance of 1000 km from the Spanish Peninsula and 140 from the African coast. Has an area of 845.93 km. and a population of approx 135,000 inhabitants.
Puerto del Carmen
Puerto del Carmen, located in central-south of the island, 10 minutes from the international airport is the main tourist area of Lanzarote. It´s divided into 3 areas, Matagorda (closest to the airport), Central Puerto del Carmen (also known as the strip) and the Old Town (still has a traditional feel to the place).
Playa Blanca   Playa Blanca is located south of Lanzarote, and in recent years has become the second tourist enclave on the island. Rewarded on several occasions for its cleanliness, pleasant and quiet area is ideal for the rest of the family.
Arrecife If you want to catch a more modern and metropolitan side of Lanzarote then visit Arrecife, the islands capital. Here you will find a lively port city, shaped both by its seafaring past and its current, rapid regeneration. Arrecife is home to around half the island’s inhabitants, with a population of some 45,000 and boasts shopping galore, beaches, parks, promenades, nightlife and all of the attendant urban hustle and bustle.

Holidays in LanzaroteHotels and apartment complexes on the island of Lanzarote have managed to surpass the level of 80 percent average occupancy during the month of February, which is 10 percent more than the same month last year. "These figures evidence the remarkable recovery of the accommodation sector on the island, Lanzarote main economic source" assured the president of Asolan, Susana Pérez.

According to data provided by Asolan, in February 2010 the island reported, on average, an occupation of 70.35 percent, compared with 80 percent now been overcome. Thus, although this is the month with fewer days of stay for statistical purposes, February approaches the best tourist occupancy rate last year, which was obtained in August, with 83.71 percent.

The statistics reflect the recovery of tourism in Lanzarote, within the parameters of volume and, especially, after the improvement of the main tourism source markets, mainly Germany and the UK. The good figures for February have been produced by the diversion of tourists that had their holiday programmed for some of the countries of North Africa and that given the volatile situation in those places, have decided to enjoy their vacation time in Lanzarote.
